Maintenance of Way Vehicles

Queen Mary II

1984 Chevrolet Suburban 2500 2WD Hi-Rail

This Suburban was specially ordered and operated by the Southern Pacific Railroad. It is unknown how it ended up in Eureka but our volunteers found it abandoned in the bushes of a home in 2020. A major clean up and repair was performed in 2021. The Queen was put into service shortly after as the Humboldt Bay Scenic Railroad crew transport vehicle and the Timber Heritage Association’s public outreach vehicle.

Cheyanne

1994 Chevrolet Cheyanne 2500 2WD Hi-Rail

This Cheyanne was operated by the Burlington Northern Railroad in Texas. The Timber Heritage Association acquired it in the 2010s. It is frequently used in MOW operations, such as clearing brush, performing track work, and conducting visual inspections. The service box provides ample storage for the tools and equipment we use. It also has the ability to pull a rail cart, making it a very valuable piece of equipment on the rails.
